ABOUT US

Inner Light Recovery is a Holistic Stress Management and Reiki Practice. Inner Light Recovery was established in response to the growing need to address client wellness from a mind, body, spirit approach. Inner Light Recovery’s mission is to facilitate the client’s healing process. The universe and nature seek balance. Nature wants us to be well. Complementary medicine focuses on the body’s natural modes of healing. Recognizing one’s own Inner Light empowers the client to employ these alternative methods for recovery of balance. A place where East meets West, Inner Light Recovery will consult with a client’s primary care provider when requested by the client.

Margaret Brown steps forth from the world of western health care to serve you as a stress management consultant and a healing guide.  Providing life enriching one on one coaching for clients, as well as inspirational workshops/classes for small groups, Margaret’s commitment is to provide those she serves with wellness tools.  Margaret received her Bachelor of Science degree from University of Delaware in 1987 and began working in the acute care setting at the Hospital of University of Pennsylvania. Inspired to help patients prevent acute illnesses, she obtained her Adult Nurse Practitioner Master of Science degree from University of Pennsylvania in 1991. Her primary care practice included providing health care for the homeless, private practice, and caring for clients in a Primary Care Health Center. Her clients faced many complex medical and psychosocial challenges. During this time, she was also employed as a clinical lecturer in the Graduate School of Nursing at the University of Pennsylvania. In 2000, Margaret began exploring alternative methods to meet the needs of her clients. Impressed by the impact of energetic healing, Margaret obtained her Master’s Training in Reiki. Witnessing the unique healing power that alternative interventions provided, Margaret created Inner Light Recovery, a Holistic Stress Management and Reiki Practice in January of 2008. Inner Light Recovery continues to develop and grow to serve clients.  Margaret is committed to continually augmenting her training in holistic health care.  In April 2011 Margaret received the national recognition of Board Certification as an Advanced Holistic Nurse. Margaret is the Network Leader for the AHNA Philadelphia Area Network.

To stay grounded and healthy Margaret practices qigong, yoga, and Reiki. For fun Margaret likes to hike, boogie board at the beach, play Frisbee with her pup, and share adventures with her family.  As a mom of three teenagers Margaret recognizes the gift of life and the beauty of taking life one day at a time.

HOLISTIC NURSING
Holistic Nursing is nursing that acknowledges mind, body, spirit principles and integrates them into evidence based practice. Holistic Nursing seeks to balance “Eastern” and “Western” medical interventions. The American Holistic Nurses Association (AHNA) was founded in 1981. In December of 2006, the American Nurses Association (ANA) officially recognized Holistic Nursing. In January of 2007, the Holistic Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice was co-published by the AHNA and the ANA. Margaret is the Network Leader for the Philadelphia Network of the AHNA. Indiviuals interested in holistic healthcare are welcome to attend the monthly educational meetings held on the second Monday of every month. Click here for meeting schedule. REIKI
Reiki is a type of energy healing which means “Universal Life Force” in Japanese. Reiki is used around the world to treat many health care needs. Margaret Brown is a Usui Shiki Ryoho Master and Teacher. Originally learning Reiki to care for herself and family, Margaret began incorporating it into client care due to the remarkable results she was witnessing. Reiki sessions involve the practitioner using healing touch by placing her hands on the client. Unlike a massage, the client is fully clothed. Clients receive healing and balancing.  Each person’s experience is unique to their needs.  Reiki is shown to be effective in treating numerous physical and emotional needs. Energy healing is used as routine care in many countries and is growing in the United States. Thanks to scientific advances such as quantum theory, the western world now has a platform for understanding the traditional practices of the healing arts.  The National Institutes for Health established the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine in 1998 to fund research regarding complementary alternative therapies and considers Reiki “Biofield Medicine”. Please visit www.nccam.nih.gov and or google “medical research on Reiki Therapy” for more information.  See “classes” section.
